Freedom from choice
This was going to be a long post, but I'll just condense it to this:
Back in 1991, I knew which programming language to use, and how to distribute programs so that they would Just Work for other PC users. These days, with three major operating systems to develop for, and dozens of programming languages to develop in, I'm never sure anymore.
